1. Platelets

a) Activated by

i) Nonendothelial surface triggers include:

a) Collagen

b) ADP

(1) Red cells contain alot of ADP which are released when rbc are damaged

c) Thrombin

ii) CPB- direct activation by unknown mechanisms

iii) Platelet activating substances released from leukocytes

iv) Plasmin

a) High concentrations of Plasmin

(1) At 37°C activates platelets

b) Low concentration of Plasmin

(1) At 37°C Inhibit platelet activation (via thrombin activation)

(2) A low temperatures activates platelets (via thrombin)

2. White cells

a) Activated by:

i) Complement

a) Complement activated by

(1) Classical

(2) Alternative

ii) Kallikrein
