Method of Mixtures:

§ A technique to measure specific heat capacity [thermal capacity]

§ Involves mixing samples that differ in temperature and finding the equilibrium temperature

§ Should be no energy transfer to or from outside

Use of Joule meter

= J/kg°C

• c = specific heat capacity

W = energy, as determined by joule-meter

m = sample mass

q = temperature change of sample
