     Decreases MAP in direct proportion to alveolar concentration due to reduction in SVR

     Cardiac depression; bradycardia

     Cardiac irritability

 

5) Toxic effects/ precautions with administration

     Rarely causes liver disease [‘halothane hepatitis’]

     Due to cardiac irritation, avoid when administering adrenaline

 

6) Contraindications

     Hepatic necrosis

 

7) Reversal, antagonism or antidote

     Reversal by ventilation with pure oxygen
