Award Conditions

CONDITIONS FOR THE EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP 

  1. The sponsor will donate each year a sum of money known as "The Education Scholarship".The money will be made available each year to the Executive Committee of the Society who will administer the same according to these conditions.The purpose of the Scholarship is to enable a newly qualified clinical perfusionist to visit another cardiac unit within Australasia or overseas in order to aid their learning and development of perfusion or associated techniques.The Scholarship will be offered (subject to the conditions contained herein) to the person who has gained the highest aggregate score in examinations as judged at the conclusion of the training course conducted by the Australasian Board of Cardio-Vascular Perfusion.The Scholarship may be used by the recipient for the purpose of attendance at a perfusion meeting. However it is expected that the recipient will also spend some time at a cardiac centre in the vicinity.The Executive Committee of the Society will notify the proposed recipient of the Scholarship, who will then be invited to apply to the Committee for the award of the same. The Executive Committee will fix a time limit by which such application must be made. The Scholarship will only be awarded to an existing member of the SocietyApplications for the Scholarship must include the following:
    1. A statement of the aims and expected benefits of the proposed travel.An itinerary of the proposed travels, including dates. If full details are not finalised by the time of application, these must be supplied before funds are made available.
    2. A detailed breakdown of travel costs, including a quotation from a travel agent or airline, quoting economy class airfares and accommodation charges. Travel insurance and daily expenses will not be funded. 
  2. The Scholarship will not be awarded for study involving specific commercial or corporate interests.Applicants must, on request, provide a declaration stating what funds, if any, are being made available from other sources towards the cost of the proposed travel.It is a condition of the Scholarship that the recipient will, as soon as practicable after completion of travel, furnish a full report to the Committee. It is a further condition that the recipient will furnish to the Editor of the Gazette a full report for publication, including relevant illustrations.
  3. The decision of the Committee in respect of all aspects of the Scholarship shall be final. No correspondence will be entered into regarding reasons for accepting or rejecting an application.

CONDITIONS FOR THE "ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD" SPONSORED BY MEDTRONIC AUSTRALASIA  

  1. Medtronic Australasia will donate to the ANZCP each year a sum of money to be known as "The Encouragement Award " sponsored by Medtronic Australasia.
  2. The money will be made available each year to the ANZCP Executive Committee who will administer the same according to these conditions.
  3. The Award is open to life members, financial full members, fellows, foundation members and student members who are practising clinical perfusionists or trainee clinical perfusionists and who have been members of the ANZCP for the preceding 12 months.
  4. The Award will be offered to a member as above who is the author of a paper, presented at the Annual Scientific Meeting, which is considered to be sufficiently meritorious.
  5. In order to be eligible, the recipient must be a named author of the paper and must personally present it at the meeting. The Award is not transferable to another person.
  6. The Award may be used by the recipient towards the cost of overseas travel or for travel within Australasia to attend a scientific meeting or to visit and learn from a leading cardiac unit, or both.
  7. The award will be judged by a panel nominated by and answerable to the Executive Committee. The decision will be made public at the annual dinner after the Scientific Meeting. An application to take up the Award must be made to the Secretary of the ANZCP for consideration by the Executive Committee for use of the funds by the end of the financial year in which the Award is received. This must include:
    1. An itinerary of the proposed travel, including dates
    2. Full details of travel and accommodation costs, including a quotation from a travel agent.
    3. A declaration stating what funds, if any, are being made available from other sources towards the cost of the proposed travel

Prior to or concurrent with the application, a full article based upon the winning presentation must be submitted for publication to the Editor of the ANZCP Gazette or have been accepted for publication in another Journal. Applications will not be considered until this condition is met.

Failure to lodge an application in the specified time will result in forfeit of the funds.

  1. The decision of the Executive Committee in all aspects of the Award shall be final. No correspondence will be entered into regarding reasons for accepting or rejecting an application.
  2. A Perpetual Shield will be presented to the recipient of this award. It is a condition that the recipient of this Perpetual Shield MUST return it to the Executive Committee at or before the next Annual Scientific Meeting so it may be presented to the next recipient. A smaller shield will then be presented to the recipient.

conditions for the sid yarrow award SPONSORED BY CELLPLEX PTY LTD 

  1. The purpose of the Sid Yarrow Award, sponsored by Cellplex Pty. Ltd, is to encourage high standards of professional activity in students in the Clinical Perfusion Structured Course provided by the Australasian Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.The Award is open to students in the Clinical Perfusion Structured Course provided by the Australasian Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion, full members of the ANZCP, and sustaining members of the ANZCP who are employed as clinical perfusionists, and who are current financial members of the ANZCP.The Award will be offered to a full or sustaining member, as outlined in condition 2, who is a first time presenter OR a student member who makes the best presentation at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the ANZCP, provided the presentation is of sufficient merit.In order to be eligible, the member must be a named author of the paper and must personally present the paper. The maximum value of the award is $3500. The Award is not transferable to another person.The recipient may use the Award for any purpose associated with their professional activity. Including but not limited to travel, text book/s, research course attendance, and assistance with presenting at a meeting, workshop attendance, computer software and equipment.A panel nominated by the Executive Committee and which is answerable to the Executive Committee will judge the Award. The panel shall report the name of the recipient to the Executive Committee.An application to take up the Award must be made to the Secretary of the ANZCP for consideration by the Executive Committee for use of the funds by the end of the financial year in which the Award is received. This must include full details on the proposed expenditure.Prior to or concurrent with the application, a full article based upon the winning presentation must be submitted for publication to the Editor of the ANZCP Gazette or have been accepted for publication in another journal. CONDITIONS FOR THE TERUMO AWARD 

  1. The purpose of the Award is to enable the recipient to attend a meeting of his or her choice, to be approved by the Executive Committee.

  2.  The Award, which will be financed by the Terumo Corporation Australia, will consist of return economy class airfare, conference registration, and accommodation at the conference for up to four nights, to a value of $5000.00 AUD. Terumo will also provide a shield on which the name of the recipient will be recorded each year and which will be held by the Society, together with a small personal shield to be presented to each recipient.

  3.  The Award is open to life members, financial full members, fellows and foundation members who are practising clinical perfusionists and who have had membership in the ANZCP for the preceding 12 months.

  4.  The Award will be judged on the basis of the best paper delivered at the ANZCP Annual Scientific Meeting, by a panel nominated by the Executive Committee. It will be judged on:

    1. Original content
    2. Scientific accuracy, strength and conclusions
    3. Presentation skills.
  5. The name of the Award recipient will be announced following the Scientific Meeting.
  6. The Award will be made to the person presenting the paper only if he or she is the named principal author of the paper. A paper delivered on behalf of the author(s) by another person (not named as the principal author of that paper) will render the paper ineligible for consideration for the Award.
  7.  For consideration for the Award, a paper must not be financed or sponsored by a commercial undertaking.
  8. The Award is not transferable to another person.
  9. An application to take up the Award must be made to the Secretary of the ANZCP for consideration by the Executive Committee for use of the funds by the end of the financial year in which the Award is received. This must include:
  1. An itinerary of the proposed travel, including datesFull details of travel and accommodation costs, including a quotation from a travel agent.
  2. A declaration stating what funds, if any, are being made available from other sources towards the cost of the proposed travel.

Prior to or concurrent with the application, a full article based upon the winning presentation must be submitted for publication to the Editor of the ANZCP Gazette. Applications will not be considered until this condition is met.

  1. A recipient of the Award must take up the same within 12 months of its receipt. If special reasons exist for deferment, then application must be made to the Executive Committee.Decisions of the Executive Committee in respect of the Award shall be final. No correspondence shall be entered into regarding reasons for accepting or rejecting a particular paper for the Award.
  2. A Perpetual Shield is awarded to the recipient of this award. It is a condition that the recipient of this Perpetual Shield MUST return it to the Executive Committee at or before the next Annual Scientific Meeting so it may be presented to the next recipient. A smaller shield will then be presented to the recipient.

Conditions for the ANZCP Perfusion Unit of the Year

  1. The ANZCP will provide a sum of money to be known as "The Perfusion Unit of the Year Award".
  2. The Executive Committee of the ANZCP will administer the Award according to these conditions
  3. The purpose of the Award is to acknowledge and reward the perfusion units that continually contribute to the ANZCP and the perfusion community.
  4. Points are awarded for contribution as outlined in the application. The total number of points accumulated in the various categories in the year between ANZCP scientific meetings (by financial ANZCP members only) is divided by the total number of Perfusionists (non-members and students included) to give an overall score. The highest scoring unit is the winner. In cases where two units have the same score the Executive Committee will make a decision based upon past contributions to the ANZCP.
  5. Perfusion units that submit applications do so on the condition that any decision of the Executive Committee on the recipient of the award is final.
  6. The winning unit must submit a planned expenditure including the names and signatures of the members of the unit, to the ANZCP Secretary for Executive approval and the issuing of funds. The funds may be used but is not limited to the following:
    1. Text books
    2. Journal Subscription
    3. Research Assistance
    4. Course Attendance
    5. Assistance to present at a conference
    6. Workshop attendance
    7. Computer Software
    8. Equipment

Only units with the majority of its Perfusionists (trainees included) being financial members of the ANZCP at the date of submission of the application will be eligible for the award. The Application Form must be submitted with a postal mark or Fax date of not less than 14 days prior to the AGM.

Applications must be forwarded to the Secretary ANZCP as per the Application Form.

CONDITIONS FOR TRAVEL AWARD  

  1. The purpose of the Travel Award/s, "Award/s" is to encourage Members of the ANZCP Inc. present a paper at the Annual Scientific Meeting.
  2. Each Award will consist of a maximum value of an advanced purchase return airfare from the recipient's city to the city in which the Scientific Meeting, at which the paper was presented, is held.
  3. The Award/s are open to life members, financial full members, fellows and foundation members who are financial and practising clinical Perfusionists who submit an abstract for the Scientific Meeting.
  4. The Award/s will be judged on the basis of the abstract, paper content and delivery.
  5. The name of the Award recipient/s will be announced following the Scientific Meeting.
  6. Each Award will be made to the person presenting the paper only if he or she is the named principal author of the paper. A paper delivered on behalf of the author(s) by another person (not named as the principal author of that paper) will render the paper ineligible for consideration for the Award/s.
  7. For consideration for the Award/s, a paper must not be financed or sponsored by a commercial undertaking.

  10. Prior to or concurrent with the application, a full article based upon the winning presentation must be submitted for publication to the Editor of the ANZCP Gazette or to another Journal. Applications will not be considered until this condition is met.

Decisions of the Executive Committee in respect of the Award/s shall be final. The Executive Committee reserves the right to award all, some, or none of the Travel Awards available in any one year. No correspondence shall be entered into regarding reasons for accepting or rejecting a particular paper for the Award.
